Vallanattu Nagarathar in Tamilnadu living at காடுவெட்டிவிடுதி - KAADUVETTIVIDUTHI, நெய்வேலி - NEYVELI, கறம்பக்குடி - KARAMBAKUDI, பிலாவிடுதி - PILAVIDUTHI, ஆலங்குடி - ALANGUDI, நெடுவாசல் - NEDUVASAL, வடகாடு - VADAKADU, மறமடக்கி - MARAMADAKI, வல்லநாடு - VALLANAADU, ஆரியூர் - AARIYUR, அன்னவாசல் - ANNAVASAL, கீரனூர் - KEERANOOR and other places in Pudukkottai district, Thanjavur district, Chennai and various place in Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Overseas.

They migrated from Kaveripoompattinam (Poombukar) - an ancient town located on the east coast of Tamil Nadu, India — to the small village of Vallanadu, near to Thiruvarankulam in Pudukkottai district. Thiruvarankulam temple has build 1000 years ago. Lord Shiva (Sri Arangulanathar)  is a swayambumurthi and Sakthi (Periyanayagi amman).

Thiruvarankulam Temple is the main temple for Vallanattu Chettiar. "Udayathu kaatha" Udayappa chettiar formulated the arrangement in this temple, and that is followed till today by Vallanattu Chettiar.

Vallanattu Chettiar is having 12 village division and this village division are segregate as 3 Cheemai(Sectors) as below:
